Republic Day of India is celebrated on 26th January every year to mark the historic day when our country came into its own as a sovereign republic nation.After gaining independence on August 15, 1947, India did not gain complete independence until the adoption of its own constitution.Thus, the Indian Republic Day marks the successful attainment of the goal of ‘Sampoorna Swaraj’. The Indian Constitution officially came into force on 26 January, 1950. As a republic, the constitution provides for an elected government and lays stress on political equality. Republic Day is celebrated on 26 January every year to mark the glorious event of India becoming a sovereign republic. Dr. Rajendra Prasad taking oath as the first President of free India is chronicled in the history of independent India.

Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro will be the chief guest at 2020 Republic Day celebrations held annually near India Gate in Delhi.This has been seen as a major setback by political parties in India.It’s an old tradition at Republic Day Parade to invite a Prime Minister of another country showcasing our culture and traditions.
List of tableau proposals selected by Ministry of Defence :
The Ministry of Defence has shortlisted only 22 tableau out of 56 proposals for the Republic Day parade.Every year on India’s Republic Day, 26th January, the Ministry of Defence receives tableau proposals from states, union territories, central ministries and departments for the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.The short-listed proposals for tableaux include 16 states and union territories and six central ministries.“In view of the time-constraints, the Ministry will only be able to include only a limited number of proposals,” the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

**In order to purchase tickets please carry your Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card or government-issued identity card .
The ticket counters are open daily from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. In addition,from January 23 to 25, 2020 one ticket counter at Sena Bhavan will remain open until 7 p.m.
Ticket Prices: 500 rupees for reserved seats. 100 rupees and 20 rupees for unreserved seats. Reserved seats are located closer to the main stage .
 Unreserved seating is provided on a first-come basis.
