'Dabangg 2' breaks the record of 'Ek Tha Tiger'

It was expected. Dabangg 2 created a bang at the box office with record numbers in its opening weekend despite the fact that Friday, December 21, was a working day. Trade sources vouch that Salman's competition in the current Bollywood scenario is none other than Salman himself.

Currently, the kingpin of Bollywood, Chulbul Pandey, rose to the occasion and defeated Tiger Khan in a close match. Ek Tha Tiger managed an opening collection in August of around `56.38 cr approximately, with the dual advantage of Independence Day (August 15) and Ramzan Eid (August 20) thrown into it's nine-day uninterrupted run. Dabangg 2 also holds the distinction of getting the highest numbers for a working Friday, leaving films like Rowdy Rathore (15 cr) and Talaash (13 cr) looking sore. Producer Aman Gill says, "Dabangg 2 has smashed all opening weekend records! Its first three-day collections are higher than the previous record holder, Ek Tha Tiger, for the opening period."
