An official notification said, that Special excise duty on petrol has hiked by Rs 4 in diesel whereas Rs 2 to Rs 8 per litre in petrol.
On Saturday excise duty on diesel and petrol has raised by Rs 3 per litre as the government looked up gains appearing from fall in international oil prices.Additionally, road cess on petrol was higher by Rs 10 per litre on diesel and Rs 1 per litre each on petrol.
The increase in excise duty would in normal course result in a rise in petrol and diesel prices but most of it would be converted against the fall in rates that would have necessitated because of the slump in international oil prices.
