As the Delhi city having number of parks and gardens but besides that there is crowded location of South-East Delhi, there would be a green area, big enough to be called a forest. It is called Jahanpanah forest, one of the biggest green belts in Delhi. The origin of the forest is apparently during the Sultanate period, when Mohammad Bin Tughlaq enclosed a large area within a wall, creating within it the Jahanpanah forest. The place is 800 acres big, has a nice green cover including a fair amount of trees. It is located between Tughlaqabad and Chiragh Delhi and passes through Alaknanda and Greater Kailash Part II. The main entrance of the Jahanpanah City Forest Park is opposite Don Bosco school in Alakhnanda. There is a small parking lot too. It is frequented by neighboring residents for morning and evening walks, for jogging and for picnics. It was supposed to be unsafe sometime back, but is now supposed to be much safer.

Visitors find lots of greenery over here and get calm. A lot of the trail is covered in thick foliage- provides a good respite from the heat. The track has some inclines and declines also. The park has lots of facilities as the park have benches throughout the trail, and well as playing areas for kids. Apart from playing you can do cycling as well in the park.

Timing: The forest timings are 6 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.
