Delhi owes the distinction for housing some of the magnificent modern temples of India. The city has a nice blend of ancient and modern temples. Chattarpur Mandir, Isckon Temple, Lotus Temple, Kali Bari Mandir, Hanuman Mandir, Kalkaji Mandir, are most frequented by tourists and devotees. Kali Mandir is one of the most famous temples in Delhi.
A stone`s throw away from the Birla Mandir, to the right, is a small but immensely popular temple devoted to Goddess Kali, the Kali Bari Mandir. Especially dear to the Bengali community of Delhi, Kali Bari Mandir is the pivot of celebration during the festival of Durga Puja, held every October. It is relatively small in size and quite unpretentious in its design. The temple holds special significance for the Bengali people residing in the city, especially at the time of Durga Puja, held in the month of October-November every year.

An amazing fact about the temple is that here, liquor is offered to the Goddess. Situated near the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, the Kali Bari temple is also visited by the North Indians staying in the capital city. From within the temple grows a huge 'peepul' tree that pierces through the ceiling to shade the temple. Hindus consider the peepul sacred and red threads are tied around its bark when beseeching a boon.
Besides all this devotees coming to the Kali Bari Mandir and tie a red thread around the bark of the tree while making a wish. If the wish gets fulfilled, they come back to the temple to untie the thread. Though not ostentatious like the numerous other temples in Delhi, it still attracts devotees from far and wide.

Timing:
The temple remains open in the morning from 4.30am to 12pm and then in the evening from 4pm to 9pm.

Temple Dedicated to: Goddess Kali

Location: Kali Bari Mandir is located near Lakshmi Narayan Temple in Delhi. The presiding deity here is Goddess Kali.
