Kamala Nehru College was founded in 1964 based on the idea that women deserve, need and have a right to the sane level and quality of education as men. Its teachers bring out a journal called AKADEMOS which has now got an ISSN registration, an international recognition. Every department also brings out a newsletter each. The college is one of the only five colleges in DU to offer an undergraduate programme in journalism.

Kamala Nehru College stands for the empowerment of today’s women and continues to exercise a strong influence on the personal, social, cultural and economic upliftment of the life of the modern Indian woman.

Principal Minoti Chatterjee says:
“The whole idea of education in our college is to enhance liberal arts as knowledge base. The college believes in the empowerment, employment and employability of women. KNC also focuses on value education”

Kamala Nehru College: Facilities
The college has 25 societies for extracurricular activates which includes dance, debating, dramatics, music, value education and fine arts. There are six eco-friendly classrooms made of bamboo. It also has a tie-up with Concordia University in Canada for students exchange programme. KNC also organizes the inter-college cultural fest Ullas every year. There is a placement cell and active NCC and NSS, too.
