The Haryana police have introduced an SMS-based complaint system to redress grievances of persons who have been harassed by police personnel, a senior officer said on Friday.

"Crime victims who have faced harassment from police officials can register their complaints by sending an SMS, which will reach the top functionaries of the department,” IGP V Kamaraj said.

This system has been introduced in Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonepat, Panipat and Karnal districts.

Kamaraj said that his office had been receiving a number of complaints against police personnel for not registering FIRs or harassing victims. Keeping this in mind, he - said that it was decided to set up a computer-based complaint management system that the general public can access through SMS.
