After protests by Delhi University students, the administration has extended the last date for submission of semester and annual examination forms to February 19. The exams will be held in May-June. From the current academic year, the varsity has discontinued the practice of allowing students to submit their examination forms after the deadline, by paying late fees. They say that the practice causes various administrative problems. However, students alleged that they were not aware of such a rule and asked for a deadline extension.
“We had informed the colleges about this rule and the deadlines but found that many students had not filled their forms by January 31, the deadline, and hence decided to extend it,” said Alka Sharma, registrar, Delhi University. Students claimed that they were not informed by colleges. However, colleges claimed otherwise. “We informed the students about the deadline and even emailed them about it. We also sent reminders,” said PC Jain, principal, Sri Ram College of Commerce. “I believe it is a problem of mindset. Students are aware that we will do anything to accommodate them,” he said.
