Presently refereed as 'Chhatta Chowk Bazaar' the, Meena Bazaar was earlier known as 'Bazaar-i-Musaqqaf'. Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan had established Meena Bazaar Delhi to portray the emerging wealth, talents and capabilities of empire that time. This two storied arcade of Delhi Meena Bazaar has an octagonal court in the middle portion to allow ventilation and sunlight. Their edges are firmly supported by the complementary stones and designer hedges usually used in Islamic architecture at that time.

The lower cell of the Meena Bazaar consisted of two rooms frequently used for the actual display and one was used for manufacture or business transactions. Centuries ago the Meena Bazaar in Delhi was a central hub of imperial household including carpets, rugs and jajams.
