It's a hectic time for hundreds of parents across the national capital as admission forms for nursery go on sale from today. Schools will sell and accept forms through the next fortnight, a schedule that they will have to strictly abide by as per a directive by the Delhi government.
This year too, distance will form the major criterion and hence, applying for admissions in a school in the neighbourhood will prove to be the best bet for parents. Other factors that will carry significant weightage during admissions include having a sibling in the same school, parents as alumni of the school and being the first child.
The admission process is already mired in controversy with a number of schools seeking a review of the age bracket for entry into nursery. Presently, the minimum age for admissions into nursery is three-and-half years which the schools want raised to four years. While ruling out any changes in the current academic year, the state government has decided to set up a committee to examine the issue for the academic session 2014-15.
