Sunehri Masjid, Delhi
It is situated near the southwest corner of Red Fort and opposite Netaji Subhash Park in Delhi. Sunehri Masjid is mostly known as Golden mosque. In 1751 Nawab Qudsiya Begum, the wife of Emperor Ahmad Shah built this the mosque. In 1857 It is one of the blessed monuments that survived the first war of Indian Independence .
Sunehri Masjid consist of three huge domes, which are originally coated with copper. The mosque consist of a prayer hall and two minarets. You can obtain information about the date of construction and the builder of the mosque from the detailed inscriptions on the central arch. The dome of the minaret also had copper plates. Bahadur Shah II repaired and replaced them with sandstone facing in 1852.
